Facebook, Sheep, and Rights

Well your probably wondering what Facebook, Sheep, and Rights have to do with each other and i could tell you that

some sheep were caught using Facebook and according to the Rights and Regulations of face book it says “Any none human users of Facebook are to be banned and accounts delete. Facebook was created for people and animals do not fall into that category”

But that is all nonsense and I just made all of that up

Ok, to start off Facebook. Facebook has recently decided to become more like myspace, i mean make their service better, ya that’s it. Well some of there new Apps are cool like the iLike music challenge but some are just plain stupid like that zombie one?!?! Anyways the now have one called compare people where you are asked questions like “Who is smarter, Bob or Dave? ” So if your self-esteem is low i would not suggest using this because on top of all this fun you get rated by your friends, Oh yes if you didn’t already know it you friends ca rate that you would make the “Best Husband” or “Best Person to spend the day with” So yea now Facebook is a popularity contest as well so i have decided to roll out a new Facebook App called “Populr” kinda like Flickr I dropped the “e” isn’t it a great idea? You see this is how it works… Everyone puts this on there profile and there are two buttons Populr or Not Populr and then we compile a huge list of everyone to see who is the populr-ist it is a great idea i know i have even put together a picture of what it would look like

Also just so you know i got 2nd place in being smart so once again Facebook lies

Ok were are done with Facebook and moving on to sheep.

Today our youth paster mentioned how we are like sheep and read a passage about how we eat one place then move on trampling all the good grass that was left and how we drink the pure water and then muddy it with our feet. He made the connection that we get the message in a pure form but then in our actions we show a watered down, muddy, trampled on version to the people around u. While that is a good point I believe you could make a connection to our church and how were take the good people, we want good people in the church, but leave the bad and trample on it. What i mean by this is that our church isn’t accepting of people who don’t fit the model that we create. If a back person showed up to church with big earrings, a tight fitting leather jacket, big frizzy hair, tight pants, and red high-heels on, I think some of the older people would fall over and die. Our church likes the quiet well behaved type and there is nothing wrong with either group of people but we have to be accepting of both types. This is why, i believe, our youth group is dieing, People are afraid to bring there friends to events because they don’t want there friends to be judged and more importantly they don’t want people to think less of them because they brought those “un-godly” people to church. WHO THE HECK ARE WE SUPPOSED TO BRING TO CHURCH?!?!?!?!?! OK well I am done with that.

Lastly Rights. Well as you know i am hard-core Republican but lately i have been thinking and yes I agree that the number 1 reason I am a republican is that my parents are. I have decided for this next election i will not judge one candidate or the other based on what party they are in. I will choose them based on the values that they believe in and how closely they mirror my own. The main purpose of this paragraph, though, is to say that even though i support our government (Currently, not blindly) I do believe that people have the right to speak out against it. Now of course i mean none violently and not in a way that puts others in danger but in a way that says what they believe in and reasons why i am moved to write this based on this article

Pretty much a couple hung a sign off of a freeway that was anti-iraq war and when asked they took it down. Then charges were raised and the couple was arrested “It was three weeks later that arrest warrants were issued for each on the charge of disorderly conduct.”

Now if they were throwing things off the free way then by all means arrest them but I really think that we are slowly giving up freedoms to the government that should never be given up. Even if this article is true that they were throwing things off the freeway I am sure that countless other peaceful demonstrations have ended in violence or higher punishments than need because he government wants people not to question there authority and in case you didn’t know “you have the right, no the DUTY to overthrow a government that doesn’t represent the will of the people” – some guy we learned about freshman year in SS

Fisrt Post in my new Blog!

Ok i know you all (By all i mean the 3 people hat read my blogs ) Have been waiting for me to get this site up and running. To start off i would like to tell you all what took so long. I wanted to buy a website that that hosting and everything cause for some reason i thought i could come up with enough content to fill up a webpage. Well i was wrong so i got my *cough* $200 some dollars back *cough* and just had “Thegateisdown.ocm” point to the *FREE* blogging service. so now that thats cleared up i will explain this odd name “The Gate is Down”

If you have never read Ender’g Game I am going to have to ask you to go out and read the book before continuing for two reasons. One the book is freaking amazing and two you might understand the title of this blog after reading it. In Enders game the main character (Ender Wiggin) drills into his “Solders” heads that the enemies gate is down, the idea behind this was to give a stationary point that can be used to refer to other parts of the space that they played “The Game” in. since they played in a weightless environment  thier were no directions so by saying that the gate is down it provided the same direction as North, South, East, and West provide to you and me. This quote “The Gate is Down” is used one other time in the book and it is in the final battle and it is used as words of encouragement to Ender. The idea here is that it reminded Ender to think simply and also in the book it was used to relive some of Ender’s stress. So by now you are probably wondering what the heck i am talking about and how this all relates to a blog well i will tell you. I believe that if we don’t have some point in our lives to look to to base everything off of then we are lost and hopelessly struggle. Now i could turn this around into a sermon and preach at you but i would rather not. If there is one thing i know it is people don’t like to be told how to live their lives and they don’t like to be told they are wrong. Therefor the easiest way to teach someone is to give them the raw facts and let them make a decision

I Intend to put a lot of myself into these blogs and i only ask that you respect that. I will answer any and all of your questions and i welcome you to disagree with my points but the flip side of that is i expect you to listen to my rebuttal and also respond to that.  I do not in the slightest way want impress my own thoughts and beliefs upon you i want you to come to your own conclusions and I want you to voice your opinions and please above all else don’t believe everything i say. There is to much of that going on in the world already and i too am guilty not taking the time of research something before voicing my opinions (as you all know)

Well that took a while to write but i am glad that i finally have this up and running! I will probably post a bulletin on MySpace saying that this site is up and running and blog on MySpace saying the same thing

Well i can’t wait for your comments on this and future blogs and i hope to get some of the same responses that i got to previous blogs :0
